First day on the set of ‘The Office’, 2004 📸
The Office is easily one of the most beloved sitcoms of the 2000s, but no one knew how popular it would be during pre-production or even in its truncated first season. Based on a beloved British sitcom, the series shows the mundanity of office life, which isn’t exactly what you think of when you think “hit TV show,” but the cast and crew proved viewers wrong.
Everyone on The Office is essentially beloved television royalty at this point, and to make sure that they hired actors who the audience could connect with the producers did something unique during casting – there was no script.
Instead, prospective cast members were asked to answer questions in character. Jenna Fischer says that in order to nab the role of Pam she made sure that she was as boring as possible.
