The stunning Toni Ann Singh from Jamaica is the latest beauty to join this impressive list of Miss World winners. The 23-year-old aspired to be a doctor and had taken a year off from school before the pageant. Toni Ann’s win is an important milestone for several reasons. She is the first black woman to win the pageant since 2001, when Agbani Darego of Nigeria was crowned Miss World. More importantly, her victory marks the first time in history that black women have held all five major beauty pageant crowns (Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss America, Miss World, and Miss Universe).
